Where to Stay
If you’d like to be somewhere central…
Hotel Circle in Mission Valley is the most central location for lodging and has the widest variety in affordable hotels. It is right off of the 8, and puts you within 5 - 15 minutes of any location in San Diego. It provides the most accessibility to major retailers and grocery stores. Popular areas like Old Town, Normal Heights, North Park, and Hillcrest are the most accessible from the Mission Valley area.
Note: there are AirBnB locations around this area as well. AirBnBs and hotels in the Mission Valley area will likely be the most affordable in the city. The further out of the main city, the more affordable the location. If you’re interested in an AirBnB and have questions about local neighborhoods, reach out!
If you’d like to be near the beach…
We recommend AirBnb if you would like to stay near the beach! There are a wide variety of beach front properties that are generally more affordable than beach front rental companies. Rentals near La Jolla, Point Loma, Mission Beach, and Ocean Beach will give you the best views. The Pacific Beach area (“PB”) is a good location if you are looking for beach-style night life (“ocean during the day, bar crawls at night, vegan bowls in the moring” kinda deal). Coronado is beautiful, but be prepared to use the bridge to get in and out of the city!
If you’d like to be near downtown and the airport…
The Marriott Marquis on the Marina, Manchester Grand Hyatt, and San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter, are all located in the Gaslamp District in downtown San Diego. There is ample night life and access to tourist attractions like Petco Park, Seaport Village, and the Midway. Additionally, hotels in this area are next to Balboa Park which is known for its beautiful parks, museums, and the San Diego Zoo.
If you’d like to be near the wedding…
Hotels and rentals in the Point Loma area are your best bet for staying close to the wedding locations! The Hampton on Lee Court and the Courtyard by Marriot on Laning Rd are both 10 minutes away from where the ceremony is being held. There are several other hotels in the same area at a variety of price points.
If you’d like to stay somewhere historic…
The Horton Grand Hotel (built in 1887), the Hotel del Coronado (built in 1888), the U.S. Grant Hotel (built in 1910), and La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla (built in the 1928) are topic local picks for historic hotels. Bonus points: most of these places are rumored to be haunted - a fitting stay (or daytime visit!) for Friday the 13th!
